Traverses is an ongoing survey of convergences between regimented and unfettered environments glimpsed in my  New Orleans neighborhood.

At these junctions, the interplay of shadow, line, reflection, and color can make spatial relationships difficult to parse.  Whether elements are passing through or laying across one another often becomes unclear.  Tensions arise between the allure of the irrational and the countervailing need orientation.  Alternately, a tenuous harmony emerges.

Each image consists of a single, non-composited exposure.  Together, they offer a view of an oft-photographed city from an unfamiliar, intimate perspective that is as much psychological as documentary.
