Half Awake and Sound Asleep is an ongoing survey of environmental convergences glimpsed in my New Orleans neighborhood.

At these junctions, the interplay of shadow, line, reflection, and color make spatial relationships difficult to parse.  Tensions arise between the allure of the irrational and the countervailing need for orientation.  Alternately, a tenuous harmony emerges.

Each image consists of a single, non-composited exposure.  Together, they offer a view of an oft-photographed city from an unfamiliar, intimate perspective that is as much psychological as documentary.
